This Quilt Has Special Powers

This has special powers.  Not only can it revive memories of one of the best family reunions ever, it can also find lost relatives.  I'm not joking.  It's happened twice.

First in Blackfoot, Idaho while I was teaching my No More Boring Borders class.  I showed it as and example of a fun border and was asked if I had relatives in Wellsville, UT.  Which by the way I do.  This led to the discovery of descendants of my grandpa's sister.
The second time this quilt used it's special powers was last week at a trunk show I gave at My Heritage Fabrics.  After the trunk show one of the ladies came up and asked about my family.  Said she was a DeRyke also.  Come to find out.  Her grandparents lived with my grandparents when they first immigrated from Holland.  Her grandfather worked in my grandpa's bakery while he got established.  It was fun to hear her families story and then be able to share it with my mom when I got home.  She was very little when they lived with her but she remembers and loved Uncle Byron, my new found relatives grandpa.
I teach No More Boring Borders in June at the Panquitch Quilt Walk.  Can't wait to see what relative I find then.
